Doby Watson is a musician from Kansas. He began playing music in a hardcore band, his brother is an opera singer, and he is a gifted songwriter who writes heart-wrenching guitar ballads that recall the best of 90’s emo and also the fingerpicking grace and beauty of Red House Painters. Self-taught, and perhaps overly ambitious, Watson is equally adept at writing instrumental ambient music, and he generally is splitting his time between both sides, although he should not be pigeonholed to one, both, or any genres at all. 2009 should see a handful of releases, including the first proper full-length, Twenty Two.
